About: Francesca DiMattio’s Goblets are part of a larger body of work made in anticipation of company and celebration in a post-COVID world. The sculptural pinch-pots with thick stems were inspired by ornamental Roman goblets and jewelry, made to imitate the structural qualities of stone and metal. Their conspicuous gemstones and miscellaneous accessories were created from molds of her son’s toys, some of which vaguely reference the animals and symbols found in artifacts across ancient cultures.

Bio: Francesca DiMattio (b.1981) is based in New York. Recent solo exhibitions include Statues at Art Omi, Ghent (NY) in 2019; Boucherouite at Salon 94 Bowery, New York (NY) in 2018; and Francesca DiMattio: Housewares at the Blaffer Art Museum, Houston (TX) in 2014. Her work is in the collections of the Miami Art Museum (FL) and the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art at Hamilton College, Clinton (NY), among others.
