Triangular side table in a stoneware matte glaze by Brooklyn based, contemporary ceramic artist, River Valadez. Valadez holds a degree in Ceramics from Bennington College. In 2015 he began his training in production ceramics in Seattle, Washington. By 2017 he was producing thousands of tableware pieces a year in his Vermont studio before moving to New York City to pursue a design oriented practice. In 2019 he was a fellow at the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation for Museum Studies in conjunction with Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. In 2020 his new functional ceramic work is inspired by geological surfaces that he recreates through rigorous chemistry and testing.
