Vintage found satin glass w/ steel structure, 2019. This series is formed out of the accumulation of "sediments" / found objects which no longer have a practical use. They have been repurposed as vertical totems mimicking stalagmites, the way they are formed through time. This one in particular is made out of antique blue satin glass, mainly American from the early 1920s.

Alexis Zambrano’s works recognize the lives of objects, emphasizing the shifting nature of their value and function over time, while questioning the ways in which western institutions commodify and colonize the sacred. Rather than attempting to memorialize or preserve the life of an object within a linear account of history, Zambrano’s work astutely re-inscribes relics of eras gone by into the flow of time.
