ReGeneration is pleased to announce that we are now handling contemporary art pieces and decorative objects along with our usual selection of fine mid-century furnishings. In the first of a series of art shows, it is our pleasure to present the work of Paul Sunday, Nancy Olivier, and Jody Morlock. Chosen for its elegance and subtlety of mood, the work of each artist brings something unique and refreshing to our store, which has been in business since 1993.

Paul Sunday's meditative abstractions are rooted in the heritage of Minimalism. Eschewing overt imagery, he explores the potential for beauty in a flat and uniform application of paint. In these finely crafted paintings the specificity of the support, such as panels or stretched linen, is emphasized. They call to mind objects and spaces where freshness and innocence reside: an immaculate white flower, a cool breeze, or a shaft of light in a spotless white room. Mr. Sunday recently showed his work at Foley & Cox Gallery in Hudson, NY.

Nancy Olivier's tough and tenacious abstractions use layering and a sophisticated repertoire of mark making to create rich painterly experiences. The search for meaning in abstraction is hinted at in works with such titles as "Widows and Orphans" and "House Arrest", narratives for which she finds analagous painterly expression. The end result remains open and energetic, allowing the viewer to experience the pure gusto with which the artist lays down paint. Ms. Olivier has shown at Kim Foster Gallery and is an alumnus of Yaddo.

Jody Morlock's work has been available through reGeneration since 2007 and we continue to enjoy how her work evolves. For this show, Jody has created a series of paintings on paper that explore floral imagery. With a nod to Asian ink painting, many of the works use black lines to create bold silouettes and powerful outlines. The work offers a vivacious look at the florid subject, with undertones of glamour and sexuality. Ms. Morlock's has a rich and varied artistic career, with items too numerous to list here. Noteworthy ones include commissioned murals for Toronto Marriott Eaton Center and Hotel Healdsburg in Sonoma, CA, and contributions to a Neimann Marcus accessories catalogue. Her work is in numerous celebrity collections.

We hope you enjoy the work of these carefully selected artists, as we certainly do. In our search to bring original art to reGeneration, we hold the same values which we do for all our merchandise: exquisite craftsmanship and expertise in design. It is our intention to bring you pieces which may be lived with well, and to contribute to the beauty of your home and your life.

A reception for the artists will be held on October 9th from 6-8 pm at our downtown location, 38 Renwick Street, NY,NY 10012. We hope you can join us.
